Creative Journeys
Orkney writers talk about Orkney writing, past and present
Pier Arts Centre, Stromness
31 October 2013, 7.30pm
An important part of Writing the North is our Creative Research Partnerships between Orkney and Shetland writers and university literary scholars. The work of the partnerships will soon start to appear on the website, but you can find out more about it at our Creative Journeys event in Stromness.
• How is the history of Orkney writing relevant today?
• What do writers think about Orkney’s literature?
• Are there connections between contemporary and 19th century Orkney writing?
• How does Orkney inspire the creative process?
Participants include Pamela Beasant, Linden Bicket, Penny Fielding, Yvonne Gray, Morag MacInnes, Alison Miller, Mark Smith
The event is free and open to all. Join us for an evening of talks, readings and a glass of wine, as we discuss how writers write in Orkney, both now and across two centuries.
Find out more about the literature of Orkney at our Orkney Writers Archive exhibition at the Orkney Library & Archive in Kirkwall from 1 October to 30 November
